Buy an A class with 100K miles???

I'm looking at used A classes sub $20K in price. I found a 2003 Bounder with 101,000 miles for 18K. It is very clean and has obviously been used regularly and maintained. It has the Ford V10.

Too many miles?? There are others with 60K miles but not in the shape this one is in.

Thoughts??

Thanks!!

  • I've got basically the same motorhome, just a couple years newer. I'm at 36,000 miles, and fully expect to reach 52 - 55,000 miles before I'm ready to sell it in 5 or so years. $18K is a great price, because if it only had 60K miles, I'm sure they would be asking $30K for it.
  • Thanks a ton guys. Starting to feel better about it. It's just so much cleaner than the others. There are several early 2000 models with only 20-30 miles. That seems like a bigger problem.
  • No big deal really. You would buy a pickup truck with 100K on it. It still has all the running gear of
a truck. Have it inspected by a professional mechanic. The house part of it doesn't rally care how many miles are on the chassis. 2003 is not that old. We have 70K on our 2009. at least it got used
  • I don't think this is much mileage for the engine, but I would check blowby and recommend compression test.
PPI on transmission is another story.
  • It's at a huge lot in Houston TX called PPL. Was either traded in or is on consignment. Really clean inside and out.
  • More use is usually better provided it has been maintained. I would ask why it was sold.
