To give you a data point, we just sold our 32', 2002 Georgetown Class A through a consignment dealer. It was a Ford V-10 with 18,000 miles from new. We were the second owners. It had 4-year old tires, a 1 year-old Dometic fridge and was in awesome shape inside.
The only negatives were some very minor body damage and a non-functional Onan 5500 generator. The dealer estimated a selling price of $25,000 "easily". After three months of screwing around, the only bid we got was for $14,500, which we talked up to $15,800. $9200 less than NADA wholesale? What a rip-off. All I can say is that I'm glad we don't have that big box-shaped, expensive yard ornament any longer.
Sellers, beware of consignment dealers. Even CraigsList might be better!
Frank, one of the biggest turn-off's to any unit whether it's a $200,000 Diesel Pusher or a $10,000 starter motorhome are damage and things that don't work. You have both.
You have a 13 yr. old motorhome with exterior damage and a non-working genny. Why didn't you fix them or at least the genny? If you received $9,200 below NADA, do you think you would have recouped the difference if everything was repaired?
We just sold our previous motorhome through a consignment dealer in Texas with excellent results.
Safe travels,
MM.
