Thanks to everyone who has chimed in. This is exactly the feedback I was hoping to get. I "threw" Prevost out there as much for a reference point as anything else. Most of the RVs I have been looking at are Beavers, Tiffins, and as of late Travel Supremes.
As I mentioned, I am new to this and just starting to research. I was leaning towards buying a used higher end (what ever that brand might be) motor home versus one that is new but on the lower end of the spectrum (whatever those brands might be).
I picked Prevost because I knew they were at least near the top of the food chain. Honestly I have not looked at Thors. I Simply threw the brand out there to get opinions. I thought if I simply said a used higher end versus a new lower end MH I would get answers like...it depends or there are variables. I meant no disrespect to any brand or owner. Any motor home you own is great if it fits your needs and your budget.
I have read a number of places about renting a MH to help figure out what you want before you buy. I have also read before (and also stated here) buy a beginner MH to use for a couple of years then get what you really want.
I hate the thought of buying something with the understanding that you will sell it in a couple of years and get what you want. That certainly is an option and I suspect it has worked out nicely for many people. I hope that by researching I can avoid the beginner step. Plus I hate the thought of the crazy depreciation.
Thanks for the info on "zero out." I had not considered all of those issues nor did I realize the cost. I do know that buying used comes with conditions and cost, so even if a Prevost is not in my future, any used MH I purchase will come with its own set of issues/cost.
Thanks again for the input and I look forward to being part of this group.
