Bypass Nashville

Considering taking 840 from I-65 to 48 joining with I-24 at Clarksville to bypass Nashville. Questions for those who drive it regularly. 1. Is there an exit off I-40 west to get on hwy 48. 2. How many miles from that junction to I-24. 3. Am I nuts and should just head through Nashville? I have driven through Nashville many times and it is not bad. Have motorhome with toad. With 840 completed to I-40 bypassing looked like an option. Thanks for any info.

  • We have never had a problem going thru Nashville. We avoid lunchtime traffic and rush hours and have never had a problem. Drove straight thru with not much traffic on I-65.
  • We drove through last year, and made it successfully pulling a toad. I think the key is take it slow, be cautious, and stay alert. Nothing new right? Good luck!
  • no, I just barrel on thru. I live in suburban Chicago. compared to Chicago rush hour Nashville is a breeze.
  • Thanks. I agree. We have always moved right through and even with the road construction not horrible. There is still construction on the I-24 I-65 interchange to Clarksville that might be a headache so I thought perhaps a bypass might be worth the try. Have you ever driven on hwy 48.

x2 on this. I drive to/thru Nashville at least twice a year.
