we are in Alabama and the weather pattern suggests tornado warnings in the area for the next few days. We are wondering whether it is better to ride out a tornado with slides in or out.We have a 36' motorhome with 2 slides: 1-driver-side living room and 1-passenger-side bedroom.Thanks in advance

I would look to move but the whole east coast is subject so that is not an option. I pulled. One in the other day and feeling the wind I was glad I did.

If you get hit by a tornado I suspect slides in or out would be the least of your worries!But my 2c worth would be that you present the lowest surface area to the wind with the slides in. Could that make a difference? Who knows!

Gosh..tornados toss around 18 wheelers like a shoes boxs. Slides in or out will not really matter at that point.When we camped in tornado areas, the campground staff told us if a warning was issued, we were to go to the brick bathhouse asap and forget about our RV.

Read your owners manual. My manual says to pull in slides during severe weather, IF you plan to ride it out. I would also pull in any awnings.

We found a problem with slides out while in the south last year. During a thunderstorm with hail and 50mph winds, the winds were strong enough to force water past the seals and into the coach. You need to keep in mind that the seals are flexible rubber and enough wind can push enough to leak. We made it a habit to close the slides during high winds with rain after that experience.
