Camper slides and tornados

we are in Alabama and the weather pattern suggests tornado warnings in the area for the next few days.
We are wondering whether it is better to ride out a tornado with slides in or out.
We have a 36' motorhome with 2 slides: 1-driver-side living room and 1-passenger-side bedroom.

Thanks in advance
  • Gosh..tornados toss around 18 wheelers like a shoes boxs. Slides in or out will not really matter at that point.

When we camped in tornado areas, the campground staff told us if a warning was issued, we were to go to the brick bathhouse asap and forget about our RV.
  • If you get hit by a tornado I suspect slides in or out would be the least of your worries!
But my 2c worth would be that you present the lowest surface area to the wind with the slides in. Could that make a difference? Who knows!
  • I would look to move but the whole east coast is subject so that is not an option. I pulled. One in the other day and feeling the wind I was glad I did.
