If you are retired military or 100% disabled vet, Belvoir has a new Famcamp that just opened this year ... $60.00 per night.
Yeah, but according to the FamCamp manager, it's a bargain for what you get there! They have FULL hookups and you can see the Potomac River from the campground. :)
Seriously, there is a big controversy going on about this campground. It appears nobody connected with it has the first idea how to run a campground and that the cost is way out of line for what is available there. Other military campgrounds in the area charge $25 - $30 a day for a FHU site, but when this was pointed out by many people to the Famcamp manager there, her response was that Fort Belvoir is a destination resort and a money generating enterprise, so the fee is appropriate. She really does believe that full hookup sites, with concrete pads, and a view of the river qualifies the place as a resort destination. (There are no other amenities there, according to recent reviews.)
It's been reviewed a few times at the militarycampgrounds.us website and it's gotten nothing but bad reviews since it opened.
