You don't mention which part of the East Coast you're interested in, so I'm assuming anywhere with ocean camping?
Salisbury State Reservation is an ideal location, located in Salisbury, Ma. Minutes from both Portsmouth, N.H. and Newburyport, Ma.
There are several great locations in Maine as well.
