There are some big differences between units that are built to be installed and those that are not.
Fuel delivery is just one. If it has a gravity tank, it is a big issue to try to feed it with any kind of a pump.
Another is cooling. Most portables are designed to be sitting on open air and that will not be what you have.
If you made a way to pull it out into the open, you could be well on your way. I have several friends that installed portable generators, and let me tell you about the effort.
