The dash AC went out yesterday ( very hot in unit) We are 4.5 hours from dealer. My question is can a person drive the unit with the gen-set running and coach AC unit on of the motorhomes? Not sure if it would damage any electronics?
I think most of us use the genset when in hot weather for the roof ac's and other things. Just never use ours, while sleeping. Many dash ac's don't even work and considered pretty much useless by many and lucky if they can cool a large car in real heat, like with the tropics in summer and the desert southwest. - gemertExplorerI almost always do.
- BillinwoodlandExplorerI like to run the gen at times while traveling to just exercise the generator. Seems to burn around 1/2gallon of fuel per hour.
- EffyExplorer IIYes. That's what it's there for. We never use the dash AC. It's far less efficient at cooling the coach than the central air.
- doc_brownExplorerTypically roof AC's only work with gen on. Traveling during the summer I run gen all day with AC's blasting.
- the_vfoxExplorerI see no problem with it. I ran mine on the way home last weekend and never turned on the Dash error. Just be sure to check the oil / coolant levels before leaving on your drive.
- Marine_By_ChoicExplorerAbsolutely can!
- 2oldmanExplorer IIroared. Good one.
- Tom_BarbExplorerYou should be able to. Our gen set will run while driving and the aircon. has nothing to do with driving.
So. Why not?
