Canadian On line Pharmacy for meds

NW Pharmacy prominently shows where the drugs are made on their packaging. The generic rosuvastatin I get is made in Canada by Sandoz. It works just as well as the proprietary version approved by the FDA and I save 5/6 of the price of the proprietary version ($45 vs $350 for each 90-day refill). BTW, it was made in India the first time I got a prescription filled by NW.

If you look closely at many "proprietary" drugs in US-company labelled containers, you often find "Manufactured in India" or some other overseas country hidden in the small print.

Yup and most come from Pakistan. Just look up some of the investigations of the places that produce these drugs. What they found was just deplorable back room operations! No regs in place for insurance of ingredients etc. You will run not walk away from buying and ingesting drugs that come from there.

I also will not buy from Walmart. Most of these lowest price around for prescriptions are produced in 'other' countries. Look at your script labels from Walmart you will be mildly shocked.

And all generic's do not work the same, as your insurance company would all like you to believe. I am on a prescription that the generic does NOT work. Just saying.

I got my Celebrex from Canada Drug for years and saved a lot of money. I got the original from Pfizer, made in Australia and delivered from Barbados. Now we have a US generic that my insurance covers.

Yep, the drug had been in production for more than 100 years so don't tell me about the manufacturer deserves a return on their investment. This was all about the FDA giving one company, URL Pharma, a chance to make a fortune if they supported Obamacare and for that, they were given an exclusive, and a NEW patent, on a drug that was first developed in the 1820's. This was not the only drug that was rebadged and changed from generic to a specialty drug in the 2009-2011 time frame. It was, and always has been, all about the money.
Colchicine is still available overseas for less than 10 cents a pill.

Tell me why the state of md can get their drugs from canada for the state employees but private citizens shouldnt

Since the statin I take is proprietary in the US (no generic) and costs $350 for a 3-month supply, I looked for an alternative. I can get a Canadian-made generic (by Sandoz) from Northwest Pharmacy in Langley, BC, for $45. No contest from my viewpoint.

If there was a US-made and approved generic, of course I'd consider it. Interestingly, even though our town is less than 70 miles from Langley, they still ship by Air Mail. I could go and pick it up more cheaply!

Yeah, our politicians figure if you can't regulate something you need to subsidize it. The Grand Slam for them is when they can do both at the same time.

Agreed! Some would say it's great that Governments like Canada intervene to "negotiate" or fix the prices. But with most companies having an international presence all it does it forces them to raise the prices in non-regulated countries to cover the costs and a reasonable profit. If all countries regulated the prices to a point where it was non-profitable the companies would stop producing them. So in some ways the higher prices of drugs here in the US could very well be a reaction to the regulated prices in Canada - we are paying for the lower prices the Canadians (and others around the world) enjoy.

That might hold water if all those expensive drugs were developed here, they aren't. People in other countries are smart too.

I've used NorthwestPharmacy.com for 10 years or so. Very reliable although the length of time for meds to arrive varies a bit. Just order before you're low. They require a hard copy or faxed prescription. I just have my doc write one out and I fax it to them. They will fill any amount that prescription allows...for instance I get my year's worth of Crestor all at once, saves shipping, which is about $10...and I get that year's worth for what 3 months would cost at Walmart or Target. My Lantus is $107/vial at Target and in BC, at any drug store, I usually just go to Walmart up there, it's $68, and for Lantus I don't even need a prescription, just ask for what I want. It's a no brainer. As for illegality, I've driven across the border many times with no problem whatever. US drug companies perpetuate that illegal angle for their benefit. And that pharmacy in India..it is the biggest in the world and over half of all the medications on the globe flow through it at some point. You may very well buy medicine at Walmart or Target or any other drug store that was routed through there, and a huge amount of US drugs originate someplace in that hemisphere. Don't buy the hype. It's safe and saves a lot of money.
