In my opinion, the Winegard Pathway X2 is a better choice for Dish service than the Tailgater. The larger dish is less prone to rain fade, and the X2's western and eastern arc capability allows more aiming flexibility than the Tailgater. The X2 also does not need a separate power cable, and it supports two receivers watching different channels on the same satellite.

It is a shame that Winegard does not provide a retro-fit kit for the older units.

If you have the old style Carryout out you will get the same terrible cable you have always used. The connectors completely changed on the new one and they are not interchangeable.

I hope my new power cable is the improved version.

The power cable on the Winegard Carryout G2 has been modified and dramatically improved. It should not have any of the problems that the old connection caused.

I have the Winegard Pathway X2 and I really like it. It is fully automatic and the picture is great. It has the ability to connect to 2 receivers although we only use one. We purchased a stand for it. It is great because we can put it anywhere it needs to go to get a good signal. When we used the one on the roof, there were many times we could not get a signal. That has not happened yet with the X2.

We have a tailgater and love it. It gets a beautiful HD picture and will act as a DVR if we hook up a hard drive to the receiver. Ours was a refurbished bundle from Tweetys for $300.

I do like being able to put it out there on a 100 foot line for the best reception. There isn't much worry about theft where I go but they do make a window bracket that would let me secure it to the truck.

Ours works with Dish and while the pay as you go programming is more expensive a month, it is cheaper in the long run as we only use it for the summer months.

The best thing is no aiming. Just plug it in and let the receiver do the rest.

I changed the connector out on the dish end to a standard two wire flat connector. I then used a cable tie to strap it to the handle so there is no strain on the conductor terminations inside.
