Carrying a dog outside the RV interior?

I have a dog I'm fond of but I don't want to carry him within the living compartment itself. Concerns of odors and pet shed dings are on my mind. On the other hand I would like a humane and comfortable conveyance for him.

Does anyone know of an an example or suggestion that might help me?

  • a hunting dog in a kennel in the back of a pickup, I understand

but your 'fond of' pet outside a motorhome ?

is he allowed in your house ?

how do you take him to the vet ? or the park ?

take him inside the RV or pay the neighbor or kennel to care for him while you are gone
  • If you love your dog or cat they are part of the family. Would you make your son or daughter or wife ride in a crate outside? If so why don't you ride outside?
  • Maybe one of the hard plastic dog boxes they use on airlines? We have traveled with as many as 6 in our Class C. Just takes a bit longer a the rest stops.

Not that I think it is very humane, but hunters do it - http://www.800toolbox.com/kennel/kennel.htm

That's OK, but the OPer is saying this on a Class A forum, where would a dog go ? roof or storage compartment..

Would not be better to lock dog in bathroom or at least teach dog to lay down while driving, mine does.
  • My first thought is that you may not be fond enough of the dog. A well groomed dog should be welcome in your household and RV, and have minimal issues with shedding or smell. Many of us consider our pets family members, and treat them accordingly.

My second thought is that many campgrounds do not allow pets to be left unattended outside of the RV, and that will present some issues, particularly at night.

My third thought is that you haven't given us any information about the type of RV you have, or the breed/size/age of the dog.

(On edit, I'll amend the last one, since your profile does list your DP.)
  • I'm not sure I understand. You want to transport and keep your dog outside in the storage bay????

Are you talking about carrying your dog outside your motorhome ??

I have let my dog ride in the back of a truck but will never put him in a cage on the roof of my motorhome.
