Carryout or tailgater

Need an option for when in the trees. I have directv. Can both find the satellites automatically? I had a vucube that required me to find the satellite and not fond of that. I assume I can use it with one of my directv receivers. I know it does not provide HD. Which one do you prefer or recommend?

  • My Carryout requires a separate cable for 12V power. Which is a minor hassle.

Do the new ones use the coax for power?
  • We have carryout and it couldn't be easier. It locks on automatically. It can be used for both Dish and Direct TV. Tailgator is only for Dish and is a few $$ cheaper.
  • The TailGator is for dish only. Extreamly simple to operate and locate a signal but it does not work with Direct TV
  • I like my Carryout. It seems to be more stable then the Tailgator.
Mine can be converted to Dish or Direct TV. This would be a big deal if you ever want to change.
    We have Direct TV.
I didn't care for my Carryout sitting directly on the ground so I bought the short tripod.
