Caulking/Resealing Exterior

I need to remove the housing for my backup camera to check connections, etc. My question is, when I replace the housing what is the best way to reseal it? It has some kind of caulking on it now which I assume is the way it came from the factory, so I will need to use some kind of material to keep the water out. I am about 50 miles from an RV dealer so I hope the local hardware or Lowes has something suitable. Any suggestions appreciated.
  • Butyl putty tape finish with q bead of Dicor around the top and sides.
  • The hardware store offerings usually aren't the best. You could use some polyurethane caulk but stay away from silicone caulk. The problem with silicone is that once you use it, nothing else will ever stick there again. Not even silicone will stick to silicone.

x2. Proflex is another alternative to Dicor.
