CB in a Class A

I am thinking about putting a CB radio in my Class A. Any suggestions? How do the portable ones work?

Thanks

  • I have a CB in our motorhome. I use it for traffic information....other wise I have it off. It's a useful tool.

    Happy Camping, bye Dennis

CB radios add to clutter and on the road make more noise then they are worth (I have one in the pickup, but will not put one in the MH). The one in the pickup has a weather band on it and that is helpful.

Two small hand held units come in handy when one person is outside giving directions to another that is maneuvering the MH into a spot.
  • I use an older RadioShack One-Hander. It has been Discontinued but you might find a deal on ebay or Craigs list. Early models were 23 channel, later 40. My MH came with an antenna and cable so installing was just a matter of some industrial strength velcro near the driver seat dash. I kept it portable to move to the toad if needed. Recently switched the antenna out for a 2ft tuneable firestick and added a noise filter. Reception is always subjectable but it seems to work a lot better after tuning. I like the speaker in the handset feature but it also has the option of internal speaker or remote speaker attachment.
