Changed House Batteries No 12v power

Yes they may be in series correctly BUT do you have the NEGATIVE side of the battery going to ground?

DO NOT LET THE COLOR OF THE WIRE FOOL YOU. Black wire does not always mean negative.

Secondly, Are you positive the bat. Count the caps. 6 volts will have three. 12 volts will have 6. Even if they are sealed you can pop the caps and count them.

I wiped of the ends a little better and not been a touch color blind it would have gone much smoother. Thanks to everyone for the information, sometimes a man can loose control of his environment. All is well now, thank you so much.

Fuses work. Glad you have it under control.

Been doing this for 40 yrs. It is still fun.

This suggestion won't help you now, but it will help others....many who already subscribe to the theory:
Before you remove batteries, put a piece of red tape on the ends of all positive cables and WIRES. Then take a few digital pictures of the setup before you ever remove a wire or cable.
I followed my own advice when I last changed my 4 - 6 volt batteries and got everything back together and somehow one large cable got tucked away out of site and not reconnected. My alternator didn't charge and I lost power to several 12 volt items. Looked at the picture and compared it to how I had things hooked up and saw that that cable was missing.

yes your correct standard 12V and halogen will work with reverse polarity not LED

although batterys with polarity reversed the 12V lite,s will function but nothing electronic like fridge or some slide relay systems etc
Sometimes slides will work but in reverse(EG) in=out
