Check Your Roof A/C Unit For This

I was on the roof cleaning our 2007 Phoenix Cruiser from our recent trip out west.  When washing the Dometic a/c unit, I noticed one of the 4 special screws that mount the cover was missing.  The other 3 needed a bit more tightening.

I advise to check them once a year or two depending on how much you drive your rig and use your a/c unit.  I assume the screws work them self loose from the vibration.

These are the special screws, but my a/c unit requires only 4 of them.
Camping World sells them.  Part number of a pack of 8 as pictured is 3310724.004
Price including shipping for me was $12.27

Dometic A/C? Our Coleman Mach uses four 1/4x20 stainless screws and some oversize washers at the rear. The forward ones use rectangular washer/plates.

To Ron's timely reminder, I'd add this: If your A/C does NOT use some kind of oversized "washer" at the shroud fasteners, make some! You'll keep an older shroud from breaking through at the fasteners and getting blown off.

Fortunately I live near a hardware store called MC Fadden-Dale. Those screws would be about 75 cents each. That explains the occasional cover seen on the side of the interstate.
  • The screws on my Coleman AC have blue threadlock on them. Takes a little more effort to get them off, but then again, they have never come loose.
  • WARNING ORDERING THESE SCREWS FROM CAMPING WORLD

My order was waiting for me when I returned home last night.  Camping World shipped ONE screw, not eight, in a box the size of a shoe box.  I ordered part number 3310724.004 but my paperwork from Camping World says I ordered 3308261.001 which is ONE screw.  I called and they are trying to make it right.  Their system needs some IT cleanup.   I should have bought the pack of 8 screws on ebay HERE for $2.48 less with shipping considered.
