@supercub, I'm glad to hear you at least appeared patient and all, but I wonder why you didn't just say "um, excuse me, could you just hand me the key/money so you can figure it out without the pressure of my standing here watching you?" I'm fairly certain that they did what they did simply because it just never occurred to them that they were holding you up, so focused on what they were doing were they. If you said it right, I'm also fairly certain they would have learned something valuable, i.e. about customer service, at the same time they learned how to operate the computer for transactions of that sort. And they would have learned it painlessly.
