I consider myself a Ford guy. But when I saw the layout of my current Leprechaun I just had to buy it. Even though it has a slide I did not want and it was Chevy based.
Part of the buying agreement was I drive it to my local mechanic for inspection before purchase. That is a two hour trip one way. When I arrived at the mechanic I told him it needed front shocks. He inspected it and told me among other positive things it looked like new underneath. Later one shock was leaking when we replaced them.
During the total of four hours of driving time before purchase. The thing that impressed me the most was that at interstate speeds. Crosswinds and big trucks had next to zero effect on the steering wheel. This is a stock 2013 Chevy 4500 chassis.
My trade in was a 2011 based on a 2010 E350 based 28’ class C with Safe-T-Plus, +5 alignment, 5Star tune and new tires. Without adding anything more to that chassis it did not come close to the stock Chevy road manners I am now enjoying. Even before I replaced the front shocks.
Several other details. It is always in the details…
Very easy to get into the house from the driver’s seat even with BIG shoes.
When it downshifts on a hill in cruise your back and maybe your ears will let you know it has happened. The ears are a maybe.
