A diesel engine might have a little extra fuel system maintenance, but it is still nothing a handy person cannot do. The price of maintenance neglect can be much higher for a diesel, especially for turbochargers and cylinder direct injectors which can be destroyed by oil delivery or filtration failures.
Class A motorhomes in general have engine access issues that tend to make maintenance more expensive than you would expect for a car or truck.
