Interesting article and debate, I have posted a subject more about real world use of a Newer Ford Chassis and Engine setup.
We are shopping a Monaco MH, looking at both the Monarch in Gas and the Cayman in Diesel, both are 35 Footers or so.
The Monarch's layout is desireable with the Bunk options, we have a 12 year old and grand kids, lolol, yea. The Cayman has the typical layout of Master with couch's to bed's. If money were no object and it was strictly my decision the Diesel would be hands down the purchase I would make. If we were retired and traveling, it makes it a no brainer, but alas we are neither and are relegated to weekend warrior status.
So, the Subject of Gas for us goes beyond the which is the right choice but how the Gas motor, in this case Ford V10, Chassis, and Transmisson work in the real world. As I am sure you know Monaco went Bankrupt, the name will continue more or less under new ownership with No warranty support for products prior to the new owners purchase. Course, there is supposed to be a 3 year 36,000 drivetrain warranty, but nothing on the conversion. So, any info about this combo is appreciated, the realistic performance both towing and not, gas use, maintenance etc.
Thanks in Advance
Moe
PS. Yes I said Diesel hands down, Better ride, better turning, a tad quitier, Air Suspension, and Exhaust/Engine Brakes, and easier access to basement storage. The only question is in my case, is this worth almost 40K?????? My wife says NO, lolololol......
