Again, these posts were very helpful to this newbie.
I thought a Class A gas would be best based on cost if most travel was below 5000 ft Above 5000 ft I guessed I would need to accept a slow ride up the mountain.
Based on driving both I decided that longer hauls up north would push me towards a DP even if I would be parked most of the time I was up north. The possibility of multiple days of driving pushed me to a DP.
I also learned I like slides. While I am sure others have other opinions, the positive posts and personal experience regarding Newmar, Winebago, and Tiffin have made me favor these MH.
I have placed an order for a Tiffin Allegro Red. Not that it is definitely the best but that it is among the better affordable DP MH's. I like it and as a shopper of an affordable MH I decided that a lower end DP was better than a higher end gas MH.
It had less to do with mileage, torque, HP, etc.
The DP just drove better. If I was planning on doing most of my driving near home I would have saved a bunch of money and went with gas. But as I expect to drive day after day sometimes I decided the DP was better for me.
If I ever decide I will stay closer to home with my MH I might recommend gas or a Fred. If I planned on driving fewer miles per day on my journeys again I think I would have gone gas. The driving of both and the comments on this board helped me make the right choice for me. I hope they help make the right choice for you as well.
Now I just can not wait for the silly thing to be built so I can join some of you on the road.
Again thanks to all pro and con as your experiences really helped.
