I recently, 8months ago, sold my Class A 42' MH. After 11 years I thought I might get out of the RVing fun. My wife and I came to miss going places and taking our pets and being with our friends who still have their rigs. So, we got back in the fun. We didn't want a HUGE one anymore so we looked around and found that what suited our purpose. An Itaska class 'A" sprinter 25 footer. Now we are ready to go with our friends and have some fun and play some golf see the sights. OPPS, we can't go with them as our MH Class 'A' isn't big enough. I have to be 30 foot Class 'A'. to go with them. I have an income that allows me to do and go where and when I want, except to the resort places I use to go. The small class A MHs are now discriminated because we are not long enough. So no getting together with our friends for morning breakfast, or evening drinks or daytime golf or meals with relatives and friends, because we have to drive anywhere from 3 to 15 miles to be with them. Sorry if this is a post already covered, but I had to put my 2 cents in. I would still like to be part or our old group. Been with them for over 9 years. :(

Just tell them you're 30'...who measures..:h....with the toad, you'll be at least that....sort of an 'honest' mistake....:B.....it's a shame to spend $100,000 on a coach only to be thrown to the peasants.....Dennis

I don't understand the rules, but they are what they are. Since the CG's do not charge by the foot (like marinas do for boats) you would think they would be OK with a smaller rig (less energy consumption for starters). However, in your case it appears you have three options, get a 30', convince your friends to move to another CG or make new friends. I've wondered what happens if you own a lot in an RV resort that has the 10 year rule, and your RV hits 11 years old...

I"ve seen plenty of "class A only" campgrounds, and many "less than 10 year old" ones as well.
Don't recall ever seeing one that was sniveling over length, but my gasser was 36 and the DP is 40, so maybe I'm not the one to ask.

Have you considered bribery? The individuals making the on the spot yeah or nay decision are not paid very well, and all over the world, a little cash across the palm works wonders for those who have the wealth but are outside the rules.

It is a lot like a neckties only restaurant, you can usually buy a necktie on the spot.

If one of my grandkids told me that story I would tell them two things:

First, it's their park, they can do what they want, if you don't like it bring money, and;
Second, if I had friends for that long that didn't do or say something about it, then I guess they never really were my friends in the first place.

Do we have them in Canada? Personally I think it is wrong but owners can do as they please.

Are people's personality and morals being judged by their rig? It certainly can't be their bank accounts.

You see the same class division come up on this forum when the discussion comes up about a DP verses a gasser. To some people it doesn't matter if you also have a Class A, if it has a different engine than theirs does.

Some people actually feel superior because they have a "class A" and the rest of the RV world are second class citizens. Apparently yours isn't big enough so they lump you in with the rest of the peasants.

Pretty sad.

Not all large DP people are snobs but there are some out there. We have a 40 ft DP and don't want or need to stay in a snooty RV park like that.

I don't think "snooty" has anything to do with it. People confuse economics with common sense. Whereever the dollar goes is where the rules are. I would say I was 30' in an instant. We book a lot of sites and I always put in I am 39' instead of 40'. Lots of campgrounds hold sites for smaller RVs. The last so-called 39' site had space for my 40' MH and my JK and still had room to play. Go figure.
