Class A F-53 Chassis OBD Plug In Diagnostic Connector

If a vehicle has one it supposed to be within a couple feet of the steering wheel column.

Found mine taped up in a bundle at the base of the steering column, left side. Happy hunting.

Up until 2004 there were some loopholes in the regs. Vehicles classed as HD or having an over 14,000 GVWR were allowed to skirt the requirement.

I have a 99 and neighbor has 2000, Both were found below the right knee just inside the dash. Its there just keep looking with a bright light.

On top right side of the steering column under the dash area. It may still have a plastic cover over end of connector.

Or under the dog house left of the carb near the left valve cover.

It might not be OBD II. The chassis could be a year or two older than the coach and is in the changeover years.

As others have said, the OBD2 port on the right side of the steering column, often up out of sight and hard to spot with the plastic cap on it. The Ford body builders manual calls for it being relocated to more accessible spot, but few coach manufacturers bother. The 460 V8 equipped 1997 F-53's were the last to have the OBD(1) port under the dog house. There were no 1998 F53's manufactured, but your 1998 coach might have been on a 1997 chassis. The quick way to be sure which you have is the engine. Through '97, F53's had the 460 V8. From '99 on they've had the Triton V10.

I have a 99 Winn on the F53 Chassis. The plug was, as others have said, behind the dash to the right of the steering column, about where your right knee points when sitting in the drivers seat.

OBD specification requires the plug to be within a few inches of the steering column AND no tools are required to access.
