I know getting your confidence and skills up to par is important but part of that is knowing limits and reducing risk when possible.
As stated above, if you want to take a chance on damaging your own equipment or your life fine, but not others.
Beside the possibilities of the major outcomes of causing damage to other people equipment, there is common courtesy. If you did not make it you would have had to unhook in the middle of the road blocking others. That is why it is best to unhook at the office.
