Class A Tires

Also, keep in mind that your 'take-off's' may have some value.

We drove the first set of our previous motorhome tires for 6.5 yrs. and 57,000 miles. I bought new tires through the FMCA Michelin tire program and the tire shop gave me $50 each for my eight tires. I drove the motorhome another 1.5 yrs. before we sold it. The newer tires helped the value of coach.

Like everyone here, we ALL like to get every last drop of use out of our tires. We just don't know that exact date. But, what we do know is that when a tire blows it can get quite expensive.

To me, 7-7.5 yrs. is just a good time frame to change tires.

I replaced my 670 Goodyear at 7 years at 38,000 might miles, I thought they looked good until they were removed. On of the inside duals had severe rivering and was doomed to fail. I replaced them with Hankooks.

Lots of factor there but if based on age alone and everything else looks we start looking at 8 and replace by 10 years old.

Since you don't know their history, I would change them or at the very least take them off and look at them. When we changed out our tires, (which looked fine), there were large cracks on the inside of the dual tires. We couldn't see the cracks until they were pulled off to be replaced. Tire guy was amazed that they didn't blow out.

If you have any concerns at least buy front steer tires since when front tires blow you may have your hands full till it stops-Rich

there have been posts of tires that looked good and blew on the next trip out. the 5 to 7 year replacement is a rule of thumb but a good rule of thumb. you just never know until it's too late.

Normally you'd be good to go for awhile, but then again, do you know their history?
I thought good at 5 yrs with a recent purchase. Wrong and blew one shortly after, on an extended trip. Should have known that this thing had mostly been sitting, with the jacks up and with no covers on the tires.
The good news was, that with all the damage, my insurance company paid me over $8K and I was able to fix it all myself.
Tip....and with any blowout, you never hit anything, as it's always better to have the body damage covered under comprehensive, rather than collision.

Have them inspected by a good tire center and then do as above and make sure you take care of them. Should be good for another year or so, and even then may still look fine. You didn't say what brand you have but both Michelin and Goodyear have guides on their web sites that state their positions.

General consensus seems to be at around the 7 year mark for well-maintained tires. Checking and cracking are definite indicators to replace them, but just because they DON'T have checking and cracking, doesn't mean they are in good condition. It will only take one blowout at highway speeds to make you a little paranoid and slightly "rear-end retentive" when it comes to tires. I've had 2 blowouts..... one due to an old tire, (about 10 years old when we first bought our coach), and the other on a brand new tire due to a manufacturer's defect.... although fault was never admitted.... the tire company paid for the damages and replaced the tire.
