If you are looking at a new Class A gas you will probably be getting the reliable Ford F-53 chassis. The 2016 F-53 has the new six speed automatic that makes the coach somewhat quieter going up hills...less engine roar out of the V-10. Gas mileage is supposed to be a bit better as well. All F-53s have an 80 gallon gas tank. Look for an A with 22-1/2" tires. It will ride and handle better than one with 19.5" tires.
To us, one big difference between the A, C and 5th wheel is the ability to pull into a campground in a rain storm, lower the leveling jacks, turn on the generator and sit out the bad weather in climate controlled comfort while awaiting the storm to pass. You will still have electric, water and sewer to hook up. The unhooking of the 5th wheel from the truck then leveling, even with a Level Up, was a PIA.
I am not certain all 30' and smaller Class As have two a/c units. As with any RV you want to check everything out, especially the floorplan, carefully. We looked at many Class C and A models before deciding on our current (and last) RV. How comfortable are the seating areas? Where is the TV in relation to where I will watch? You do not want to turn your head 90 degrees and stay that way through your favorite program. Lots of new smaller As come with the overhead drop down bunk. Heat pumps are great when the outside temps are 40 and above. They save on propane and work great keeping you cool in warm weather and warm in chilly weather.
Good luck with your decision.
