Class C Exteriors

Thanks to all of you repliers. Lots of good info and
food for thought. I hadn't considered the solar heating angle,
makes sense. We are considering getting cans of spray paint
and just doing it ourselves. (ha)

We ordered a Sunseeker, and they seem super easy as far as deleting things from the build. I would bet they would delete the swirls if you wanted. I thought about doing just that, but decided to let it go.

After reading this, now I know why I like the look of our 1998 Four Winds 5000 23rk. It has simple horizontal striping about eight inches wide and a third of the way up from the bottom wrapping the white fiberglass exterior. Never thought about how nice it does look until after reading this thread, and seeing some of the MH's that look like they were in the circus.

Try rvt.com or rvtrader.com among the many sites that have Class C's on consignment; both of these site have good pictures that let you view what the exterior of a unit that you may be interested in looks like. Buying used will save you lots of money; just be careful and you really should check the unit out in person before buying if that's at all possible.

I'm with your wife... I hate those tacky looking swirly stripy exteriors on most RVs. (perhaps it's a guy thing?) Leisure Travel has a few small C's you could check out.

They are pricy though... and relatively hard to find used.

You might call Nexus - they are willing to talk about doing custom things - which I suppose could include changing/deleting the exterior graphics.

There are products for removing the vinyl graphics and the work best in hot sun or a hair dryer but it's a slow process. I've been slowly removing mine on my 08 Freelander as they were pealing when I bought it. The exterior will also need a gel coat spray when finished as you can see a difference in the glossiness where the decals were. What a shame on the manufacturers to put such a crappy thing on such an expensive vehicle! I actually use the plain white exterior to project onto. I use my computer or iPad and a portable projector and it mirrors anything from my devices! No need for an exterior TV and much larger than I would get from a tv and cost only about $300 for the projector and connectors.

On my 'C', the interior fabrics and wall coverings look like obsolete remnants from an amusement park house of horrors. When I look at the exterior, it calms me down.
