Class C Must Haves

First of all "don't believe your salesman" - even if from top dealership!!
Auto level Jack.... this came with our RV - after seeing others deal with leveling issues... I'm thankful.
Always take a qualified person with you - will save you lots of headaches.
I learned a lot during this experience..... and it has cost me. From putting on a new roof, a de-lamination issue, Generator line leaking and pouring out gas.... serious safety issues (dealership did cover safety issues - after I kept contacting them)....
Love my RV and it's family now!!

A fiberglass roof was mentioned as a must have. The Winnebago class C's I looked at have rubber roofs.

All the current Winnebago class C's, Sprinters & Ford chassis, have one piece fiberglass roofs. They have had them for many years.....

    Agree on all points.

Sales people on commission can be a mixed bag. We've come across those who don't have a clue and just want the commission check. Others have been helpful.

The whole queen island bed thing I've found to be a matter of personal preference. We prefer twin beds as we both toss and turn.

I agree about the rubber roof. We prefer fiberglass. Ducted air is nice in a larger rig. In smaller rigs you can go with roof units or ducted.

We know a retired RV salesman who coached us before buying our RV.

He said absolutely get ducted air.

Absolutely get a slide-out, even if we don't want to use it, it increases resale value.

He said a get a name brand (we settled on Winnebago), as it retains its value at resale much better.

He said avoid a rubber roof.

He said to get a "walk around" queen size bed.

I am trying to remember what else he said, as it was over 7 years ago. I haven't found him to be wrong on any of his points.

Actually, sales people are a fantastic source of information when shopping for RV's or anything else for that matter. I'm not in sales but I buy stuff for a living.

Sales people are not all that different than many on a public forum like this, they are more than willing to share their opinion whether they have any real experience or not. As a buyer you have to listen to what they have to say and use it to YOUR advantage, not theirs.
