Class C, OWNERS ONLY PLEASE American or Foreign Chasses

Haven only driven mostly American cars and trucks and a few years with a BMW (foreign model) I'm a bit concerned even looking at any foreign chasses in Class C. It's nothing to do with gas mileage. If something should go wrong I would like to be able to take care of it myself. My other point would be taking the vehicle RV to a dealership, Then the thought of some roadside ship lifting the hood to make a major repair, your thought's, please?

First off, why would you take an MH to an RV dealer to have chassis work done?
Second, most everything in the auto industry is what is called "global". Meaning parts come from all over the world. There is no such a thing as the USA made any more. Only assembled, maybe in the USA.

    Thanks, for this feedback interesting.
  • "Taking care of it myself" means having service computers, training, special tools to name a few. Sure, a code reader and a few common tools go a long way. You're still limited to what you can actually "repair".
My thinking is to go with what you like and can afford. The Ford/GM chassis units are probably the most common. Although, we are seeing a lot of M-B units on our trips.
Check into factory service availability in your area. Just because there is a dealer just down the road, don't bet on them taking your RV chassis in for repair or even service. For example, we live in area of about 1M people. The closest GM dealership that will work on our RV chassis is 108 miles away.
