For us, we could afford a newer C, or an A. But for our type of use we can't justify it. For what we do and where we go, the 10-YOA C does just fine. Not the newest, prettiest, or most unique but it keeps us cool and dry. Using it like this, we won't wear the tires out. I can accept having to replace 225R16 tires that still have thousands of miles of tread left but are too old. I can't justify doing that with 19.5 tires at twice the price of 16's or 22.5 tires that are twice the price of 19.5's. Can't find the value in it.
I like being able to get parts, too, and knowing a broken windshield wouldn't kick off a multi-state search for a replacement.
Let me offer another look: I don't want to be a Slave to a Toy. We have a used RV and a used Boat. Neither is a show stopper, but neither is an embarrassment. Our investment is such and our maintenance is such that we can use them when we want. Without feeling we must use them to justify our costs. If they have to sit awhile, they sit unused while we do something else without guilt.
Seems you see your RV,s same as we do and we have had lots. To us its a tool. We do not want it to stand out or be the best. Just want it to do the job we want when we want. Have no problem parking ours at the end of a 40 mile road into the high country and leaving it for a week while we backpack to some place we want to camp. Not sure I would have any comfort doing that with a $60,000+ rig.
