Class C ratings/reivews 31-33'

In line with those not wanting a front window, there's a big rental outfit in Anchorage that orders new Winne Chalet (theit rental line). They Delete the Front Window and Add a Rear Window. Also shorten the square tube rear bumper by a couple inches each end. Too many were getting snagged on things...

I agree. It looks nice when you're just looking at it on the lot, but it just screams leak potential to me and the longer C's are hard to keep cool as it is w/ the single AC unit.

Rockwood started putting them in their MiniLite TT too. Even if it has a Murphy Bed, which I just don't get. Half the time the bed is in the 'up' position but the window is behind the mattress.

I could do w/o them.

I would ask to see if that window could be deleted. It is a solar collector in the day and sweats a lot at night. With our first rig, we solved the problem placing a tent foam pad against it, did that for 24 years. I would never want a window in that location again.

I believe the panoramic window on the Greyhawk is part of their Primier package. Standard Grehawks don't have it. I don't think anyway.

Both the Entegra and the Greyhawk show a "panoramic" window at the front of the cap. At least from the brochure details, it seems this window is installed on a bedding like an automotive windshield. Most of those don't leak so I'm hoping Jayco's doesn't as well.

By the way, both of our Class C's have had front windows. The first one had fiberglass end caps front and rear. Windows didn't leak, but the joint between cap and roof on the front, did. Current Class C, not a glass cap, hasn't had WINDOW leaks. Clearance Lights, YES.

Actually my first motorhome was a Minnie Winnie. Unless you can find one w/ the premier package (I could not), they are resoundingly rental grade. You're paying for the name on those. You don't even get the dream dinette standard - you get some stick mounted to the end of the dinette.

Thank you all who have replied your insight and input is very very appreciated,helpful and IMHO worth much more than some of you have suggested. Looks like I should check out Minnie Winnie floorplans as well and will do that in the future. I had been hesitant due to the premise that some or most were for rental fleets so I suspected the quality might be less. My goal here is to get the good and the bad about the different manufacturers from actual owners and try to go with one that builds a quality reliable coach. Your comments help me in my approach to this decision. Thank you all.

I've had 4 Jayco products, and I'm about to purchase my first Forest River product. My last Jayco was a Greyhawk, my next RV looks to be a Forester.

My personal observations thus far:

Azdel is nice. Lighter, stronger, more sound deadening then wood. Also moisture proof - so if you have a leak there is nothing to get spongy. This brings your risk of delam way down.

The roof - as near as I can tell - there is no comparision between the two. The Forester's roof is fiberglass and SOLID. I've spent a lot of time on my Grehhawk's roof and there was always some flex.

Build quality of the cabinets and what not seem on par.

I can't tell you how Forest River organizes it's electrical yet as I'm taking delivery in 2 weeks, however Jayco's was always a rat's nest of wires anywhere you looked behind a panel.

Forest River still uses Bigfoot leveling jacks - which in my opinion are the best in the business for a Class 'C'. Jayco moved away from them some time ago. My Greyhawk had them, newer units do not.

Forest River is big on Dometic fridge/freezer. Jayco uses Norcold. I couldn't tell you the difference between the two.

I CAN tell you the Forester seems to have some well thought out nice 'touches', like drink holders built into places in the coach where you would find them handy, a safety NET on the front overhead bunk (my wife absolutely loves this). Little cargo nets stashed about. Mine also has a full size queen, not a short queen. Also the Forester still uses normal RV windows, not the frameless. Frameless look nice, but unless you have the Fantastic Fan spinning forget about getting any breeze in the unit.

Just my 2 cents which is worth even less. I'll really get into the details in a few weeks as I get to know her.

Like Ron, I spent time looking at details on most of the units you listed. Before I render my Free Opinions (worth what you paid for them) I must say: Floor Plan Rules! The "accommodation" has to work for you. One area I didn't pay much attention to as I looked at brochures/webpages was Exterior Storage. Since a slide usually pre-empts storage along that part of the wall, consider carefully. Not just the Cubic Feet that's often specified, but the Shape of things you can store. For example, we have a number of compartments adding up to about 100 cubic feet, but none can accommodate a 5-gallon paint bucket or a BBQ grille. Nor the popular Zero Gravity chairs.
Some of my Likes: Actual OVEN, a Pantry, a DSI/Electic Water Heater, NOT a Tankless Water Heater, Fiberglass Cap, Fiberglass Roof, Enhanced Ride
Winnebago Models, unless you don't like the floorplan. Of those, I like 31C.

Get a look at the Wheelbase. I think 223" is the longest that Ford allows E450 to be stretched. Ours is 218" which loads both axles to capacity. Since newer E450's have higher front axle ratings, 223" would take advantage of that.

Try to get a look, or ask for a cellphone picture, of the Weight Label that lives inside the door of some cabinet. That'll give you an idea if you can carry enough People and Stuff weight for your needs.

This is my personal ranking of the ones you listed
Entegra Esteem - All the bells and whistles, the Cap, the Roof, the Ride, the Oven, Water Heater,
Jayco Greyhawk - A little less flash, but above applies. I would not worry about Thor cheapening the Jayco models, at least for now. Thor owns Airstream now and complaints don't seem to be forthcoming. For both of above I'd consider the dual A/C option.
Jamboree - IF we can confirm Fiberglass Roof. I could NOT
Forester - Some claim they're cheaply made, yet they have a very loyal and seemingly satisfied following, AZDEL is a Plus
Thor Quantum - NOPE, rubber roof
Coachmen - NOPE, rubber roof, and I see more complaints about Thor/Coachmen rigs than most others, too bad, AZDEL is a Plus

Our Jayco is an artifact. Newer ones are done differently than our entry level Escapade model they tried to target at rentals. Discontinued storage design with very shallow compartments. Rubber roof and non-fiberglass cap. Both of these have caused problems. Still, No cabinets have fallen apart, no wiring or plumbing problems, no underpinning problems, Dinette solidly in place. Has Oven and DSI/electric water heater. Cockpit seats durable and comfortable.

I don't blame you for going "long" as we travel as a couple and appreciate the room. No slides, so not as much room as 31-feet suggests.

So there it is. Consider what you paid for these opinions.
