- IslandmanExplorerWe tow a 2003 Jeep Wrangler with auto trans, am using the StayInPlay system and like everything about it. Removed the rear seat and haul the chairs, firewood, and other bulky items in the rear of the Jeep rather than in the motorhome.

Very nice rig, why did you start using a trailer vs on the ground.
Thank you. The Jeep grew a little with some expensive driveline parts and tires. I was afraid of not being able to tow it home if I broke something.
That hasn't happened, but I still prefer the trailer. We can take our other car if we want, without having to purchase another base plate system. The trailer has also been very handy for hauling lots of other stuff besides vehicles.
Trailer tires are cheap, and I can back up! - klutchdustExplorer II

04 Jeep Wrangler.
We did it this way for the first few years...
Been doing this way for the last 5 years..
Our 06 Class C has been problem free from day one. But, we are due for an upgrade. We are tired of the rear corner bed.
If all goes as planned, we'll be hauling it behind a new to us small DP by summer.
Hope we will have as good of luck.

2015 Ford Explorer XLT (4 wheels down).
What system are you using for your Ford Explorer? I have a 2014 Explorer Limited and looking to do either a 4 wheels down or a car dolly. Any advice would be appreciated.
I'm using the Blue Ox baseplate, Blue Ox Patriot braking system, Blue Ox Aventa LX tow bar. I have towed about 4,000 miles so far and the setup works quite well. My Explorer is the front wheel drive, so (per the Ford manual), I tow in neutral, place the ignition in the accessory position, and have to run the engine every 6 hours when towing. I had a Brake Buddy towed vehicle battery maintainer (39332) put in at the time of the Blue Ox installation so that the Ford battery didn't wear down with the ignition in the accessory position while towing. My Class C has a 7,500 class 3 hitch, but if I recall, my Explorer is less than 4,500 pounds.
I had considered a tow dolly, but ultimately decided that I didn't want to deal with it at a campsite. Although the total Blue Ox setup was more expensive than a tow dolly, (for me) the ease of use of four-wheel down towing made it worth it. - Jim_ShoeExplorerI drag a Jeep Wrangler. Five speed stick shift with a 4 cylinder engine. Only one year old when I bought it. The original owner bought it to drive back and forth to work daily and wore out his left leg shifting. I removed the back seat so I can carry some stuff that's light weight but bulky back there. But towing four down can be a problem. Some idiot backed into the left front tire with his bumper. That idiot was me. Sounded like a 12 gauge shotgun going off. ALWAYS drive the Jeep to the MH - not the other way around.

Most E-450 C's will be good for at least 5000 tow, recent Sprinters also 5000. Transit and Promaster look like they will be less.
You'll know it is back there, for a C a towed vehicle can be a 20-40% increase in the mass you are trying to accelerate. - JAXFLExplorerChevy Colorado 4x4 Club
