Coach Net, FMCA I'm confused, which is nothing new

I just received a couple of emails letting me know that my memberships are about to expire. FMCA is offering roadside assistance thru All State. Didn't FMCA and Coach Net use to team together for roadside assistance? or I'm I remembering wrong. So any suggestions on which one to use? Coach Net which I believe offers roadside assistance only.or FMCA which offers Roadside, plus some club incentives? Thanks
Brian

There was an on-going discussion on the FMCA Forum about this subject, where many asked "What's up with that?". I for one am staying with Coach-Net, who had given us very good service for 7 years and not making the change. Nor am I paying the amount GS Roadservice notified me that I owed to them to "re-new" after a "free year's membership" that was given to GS Extended Warranted subscribers last year.

The FMCA Staff answer in Dec 17 under the topic heading "FMCA Coach-Net Benefit" was:

"Thanks for your questions regarding RV RoadHelp. Unfortunately, Coach Net severed the relationship with FMCA earlier this year (March 2013) when their business model changed to more of a dealer driven program.

FMCA was not, and is not, in a position to become a sales agent for a roadside service product. While we were disappointed in the decision by Coach Net to terminate the relationship, we understood that it was a business decision on their end, and a decision we had to make, as well.

In researching roadside service programs available to motorhome enthusiasts, we found the RV RoadHelp program to be a very good program, providing a few features we did not have with the previous program. The initial pricing of $69.95 for FMCA members is also a nice way to try out this new program."
  • What I've noticed for a lot of years is that coach-net gives discounts as long as you are a member in good standing of many other RV clubs. The fact of the matter is that it's likely cheaper to not join other RV clubs or organizations to get the coach-net discount, since coach-net offers a discounted 1st year rate anyway.

Be real careful to understand what any roadside service does for the plan you are buying. For example, most will not pull you out if you're stuck in mud or snow. That'll cost you out of pocket, since it's not a covered service! That's just one of their many 'gottas!'
  • Here's the email I received from FMCA......hopefully is ok to post it here.

  • I had heard fmca has dropped their affiliation with coach net and now has another supplier for their "discount" offer Coach net supposedly raised the $take$ ie wanted to have fmca raise their membership fees and make coach net "free " part of the deal . But that's all hearsay

I may be wrong in my assumption, but as I recall the last time I renewed, Coach Net is operating under another larger carrier. It may be Allstate. Hopefully, some one with more knowledge may be able to shed some light on this subject. My renewal is coming up shortly as well.

Coach-Net is, and always has been, a division of National Motor Club. Good Sam uses Allstate Motor Club as their ERS contractor. FMCA may have had a discount arrangement with Coach-Net at one time, but apparently has a deal with Allstate currently.

I am not a expert on this matter either, but my Good Sam Roadside Assistance card says that either Affinity Road & Travel Club LLC or Americas Road & Travel Club, Inc is the provider depending on where you have coverage. JMO
