coiling methods for 30 amp cord and fresh water hoses

Interested in the various ways myself. I have used those long bendable rods (like a giant twist tie). But interested to hear of other ways.

For the main shore power cord, cut it about 4 feet from the RV and add a male plug. Put a female plug on the remaining cord. Store coiled in a bucket.

My bucket is a 20 quart metal pot that can do double duty when I make up a large batch of soup. It nicely stores 50 feet of #10 cord. Plastic buckets of various sizes work well too.

I coil the electrical cord in a tight circle and use ball bungees to hold the coil together. (My electrical cord detaches from the side of the TT.) Same thing with the hose. It's important to untwist them while you coil them.

I have a method of storing my extension cords that I picked up at a Habitat for Humanity outing. It doesn't look "neat," but it sure is functional. The cord never gets tangled, and you can pull out only as much of it as you need at any given time. (It uses the same principle that the tied top of a bag of potatoes uses - so you can pull the string and the whole thing unravels. If you know which string to pull)

Unfortunately, you'd need a video to see how to do it. I've looked on YouTube, and there aren't any good ones. If I get around to making a video of it I'll let y'all know.

We're big fans of the Coil 'n' Wrap gizmos - cheap and simple and very easy to use. We use them on the water hoses, power cords and even the air hose for the compressor. We found that cheap water hoses get stiffer sooner on cold days, but that the good ones (we favor those from the Water Filter Store) are much more flexible in the cold. And best of all, we try to stay away from those cold places.

Had the same problem on my RV for my power cord, then I got my Northern-Lite camper. It may be hard to visualize, but the permanently attached power cord is in a box built into the side of the camper. I haven't measured it, but it's probably at most a foot wide, six inches deep and 6-8 inches high. But, here's what's sweet - ALL i have to do is push the cord back into the box and IT COILS AUTOMATICALLY! Then I just close and lock the outer door to the cabinet. It's so cool. And that electrical cord is probably a 25'cord!

So, I'm going to install similar boxes in my storage areas where I put my cords, hoses, etc. and use the same principle - pushing whatever back into the box will automatically coil it and the box will protect it. I'm sure I'm going to have to play around with sizes, but given how well it works on my NL camper, this will be a huge savings of work and space for me.

I have the same idea on my Class c for my power cord. The box is made out of a black plastic and is easy to clean, I would not say that the cord coils but it does all fit in there. When it is cold it is harder to get in but still works.

For the water hose I use a reusable clamp like pictured above and it works great then the water line goes into a storage cabinet.

I use milk carton crates to store my 50ampcord and Progressive EMS portable in, another for my water hoses and filter and another for my sewer hose and connection.
