cold air intake and computer chips

Has anyone purchased a air intake system or a computer chip to get better gas mileage and if so which one and did it help.

  • Regardless of model the manufacturer, who has spent plenty of money on research and development, will provide you with the best compromise between performance, reliability, and durability. After market bolt on (or plug in) devices may improve one, but always at the cost of another of these. Additionally, those gains are never enough to justify the costs involved.
  • They won't help with gas mileage. On some motors, they can help with power but usually not until you free up the exhaust first.
  • You probably already have a CAI - all vehicles have had them for many years.
