Coleman Mach 8 15k BTU A/C unit
Anybody had any experience with this unit? Is it much better than an 8 year old Coleman 13.5 BTU? Is there any kind of soft start circuit or condenser available for a bit of a ramp up load wise? ...

The original Mach 8's had a loud roar when the compressor was on. That was eliminated over a year ago with a 3 blade condenser fan blade. The Mach 8 has a separate motor for the condenser fan. The recent problem has been the condenser motor mount screws back off and the motor comes loose and breaks the fan blade and 1 or more of the rubber motor mount feet. THAT problem was corrected in production on July 1st 2015. Previous built units may have that problem, but not all do. The fix is to use Locktite to secure the motor mount feet screws. Current production, they use the locktite. The Tiffin owners group will be referencing the year ago noise problem. The Mach 8 cools great. Doug
