- HpymilsExplorerAppreciate the follow ups. Couple of questions. Oldme-I go along with throwing away the original seating, and getting computer chairs, but how do you set up-connect the chairs? I like the idea.
Kristinu-Why uncomfortable? Because the dinette is not configured as a chair with a sloping bottom and back. They are straight up and down. - KristinUExplorerWhat is it that you find uncomfortable? KNowing that might be more helpful to troubleshoot.
We have some throw cushions to throw in the corners that make it more comfortable for hanging out. Sitting upright to eat is fine for all three of us, but we like to sit with our backs to the wall and our legs up on the dinette bench (hopefully that makes sense) and that's when the pillows come in. Cushion-wise, ours are pretty comfortable for sitting. I don't think we've ever used it for sleeping. Maybe once and that would have been a child...they are comfortable anywhere ;) - klutchdustExplorer IIOur coach had a sofa installed and the original dinette removed. Went to shop4seats in LA Habra Ca. had a new dinette made and purchased a single pedestal table that folds down to make a sleeper bed. So comfortable that I often
use this when traveling alone verses the rear bed. The dinette and sleep cushions are extra padded and were made with ultra leather. I like to sit at the dinette and no complaints. More comfortable than most restaurants. - Jim_ShoeExplorerSince I'm a single RVer, I adjusted the dinette to fit my needs - and me. I suffer from Dunlap disease. My belly "done lap" over my belt. So the dinette was a little uncomfortable. I took the seat pads to a local upholstery shop and had them replace the foam padding with heavier duty stuff. And I moved the holders for the dinette legs on the bottom of the table further away from me.
I also replaced the shade with the strings running through it after one of the strings broke. I found a plastic venetian blind that was wide enough and a couple of "L" shaped hooks that I could tuck the bottom of the blind under to keep it from swinging around. If I want to look outside when parked, I lower the blind to free it from the hooks and then set it high enough to look out.
One other adjustment. I added a metal handle to the seat back of the dinette nearest the door. Now I can pull myself up with both hands when entering. - OldmeExplorerIt is just the two of us so we changed things to fit what we do.
I changed the table support so it does not have the front leg for me
to bang my foot on. Then threw away the original seating.
We both use laptops a lot so we found two computer chairs that were comfortable.
We bungee cord them at the bases when traveling to keep them tight against the table.
This works for us. - Mike_LeslieExplorerWe had the tradition dinette with the swing-down table in our 2003 Minnie.
We unhooked the swing-down wall attachment, screwed in two folding legs. Now we can move the table however we want. We can still use it for a bed.
My husband now can sit at the dinette by pushing the table away from him. The grandchildren pull the table closer, or move it in front of the sofa, depending what their needs are.
I purchased the legs at Bontragers in White Pigeon, Michigan.
