comparing 2 new DP's

I currently have a 2011 Fleetwood Storm 32bh and am looking to upgrade to a Diesel Pusher. I bought the RV new and love the layout, but am frustrated with the noise of the gas engine. I have narrowed it down to two models and would love some feedback regarding the two. I have had some quality issues with the Fleetwood but do not know about quality of Forest River. The two models are the Forest River Legacy 340BH and the Fleetwood Excursion 35E. Both are bunk models with drop down beds in front.

Thanks,

Mike
  • Don't know about Forest River, but FW has great tech phone line support. When in doubt, get the floor plan the D/W likes, can't go wrong with that.
  • I just purchased my first diesel pusher after 35+ years of gas motorhomes. The floor plan I purchased is totally different from what you are looking for, but the Allegro does have the Cummins 340 engine on the Freightliner chassis. Absolutely quiet driving down the road. I can have a conversation with my wife, I can hear the radio, and all this without my hearing aids in. Even going over the California mountains. I love it.
    Happy Trails.
  • The new Motorhome magazine has an article on eight entry level DP motorhomes.
  • There are always quality issues, no matter what...

If you were gonna score by brand, Thor, forest river, and coachman would be at the bottom/
    Winnie, Itasca and Fleetwood next.
    Newmar, Monaco, etc above them.

These days, a LOT of low cost DP's are running the new light freightliner chassis and ISB 6.7 pickup truck engines. I've no experience myself with these, they are light years ahead of the 5.9's... still, my entry level Monaco is an ISC... they claim more horsepower, but cannot come close to my 1050 ft-lbs of torque...
  • Pick the one you like best, when you buy new there are going to be quality issues, I have not met one person than bought a new coach that different have some issues.
  • Tried to pm you and couldn't. I think either coach would work well for you. I would be interested in your 32 footer.
    thanks
