Anything up to about 4000 lbs. 3500 and up, toad brakes may be required in some states, are required on over 4000 lbs. Remember that the effectiveness of the coach brakes is actually more important than the pulling power. After all if you get up the hill, you are going to go down the other side. A heavy toad can really push you around. Especially if some idiot pulls out in front of you.
