Converter location? 94 Fleetwood Coronodo (or Bounder)

Just picked up a 94 Fleetwood Coronado last weekend. Prior to the purchase, I had made up my mind to replace the original converter with a Progressive Dynamics 9160 to keep the batteries healthy. While looking through the large bag of various owner's manuals, I came across 2 converter manuals. One for a very basic converter, and one for a Progressive Dynamics 9100 series. :)

I'd like to verify that that's what is actually installed, but so far I haven't been able to find it. I've checked behind the bed where shore power enters, behind the breaker box above the fridge, and behind a good number of panels. So far, not a converter to be found.

Anyone know where it's installed in these models? (Browsing around craigslist photos, the 94 Bounder appears to be the same floorplan, so I went ahead and included that in the subject line as well....)

  • Finally found it under the stove, which is about at the midpoint of the MH, so about 16 feet from the batteries (which are immediately behind the grill). Looks like they went for close as possible to the power distribution center to make for easy wiring instead of close to the battery bank where it should be. Appears I have a 9155, so that's one purchase I can cross off the list.

Will be adding the Charge Wizard, though. Will also be relocate closer to the batteries, although I have other items higher on the priority list with winter quickly approaching. Also don't want to do that until I decide whether to increase from 2 to 4 batteries, which will require relocating the battery bank.

    Thanks for the input!
  • Normally they are as close to the battery bank as possible.
  • I have a 94 Bounder but based on what you've said the layout is a lot different. Mine is located under the floor to left of the entry door, looking from the outside. It can be seen from the basement compartment next to the door, up and to the right. That is the compartment with the fresh water tank and puts it under the cupboard with the sink. All else fails listen for the hum of the converter when connected to shore power.
