Correct tire press for Flair 31

Looks like I'll be safe running with 80-90 psi until I can get the exact weights.

So I've got all the answers I need. Again, what a great responsive group!

Fleetwood recommended 80 psi, when the MH was new.

Your spec sheet for tire inflation should be located by the drivers seat inside the RV, and I bet it says 80 psi front and back, I have the same size of tires you probably do and mine is 33 ft long and I run 82 psi in front and 84 psi in back, seems to ride the best at that pressure..

Do not run max tire pressure, your rv will ride hard as steel tires and the heat build up could cause a blow out..

On the sidewall of your coach next to the drivers seat here is a metal placard that says that running "X" sized tires you need "Y" inflation to carry its maximum load.

Until the unit is loaded and weighed, the correct tire pressure is what is listed on the side of the tire. Everything else is simply a guess. It doesn't take long when loading to go past the 500 lbs you mention.

Carl - Dennis is definetly right that the only correct thing is to get it weighed and air up accordingly.
But just for a general idea - I've got a 30' GBM on F53 chassis.
After having it weighed I run about 88psi front & 94psi rear.
According to my tire chart, I could actually run in the low/mid 80's, but that gave the rig a kind of "floating" feeling (I tend to run all my vehicles with higher psi for a stiffer ride).
My guess is that your 95psi will be fine, but ride may be a little harsh, if so you can probably adjust in that mid 80 to 90's range.

Thoug its always better to weigh as is allready explained here, in lack of that you will have to do with the GAWR's and GVWR and take a as large possible reserve with still acceptable comfort and gripp.

I made spreadsheet for it in wich I use an even saver formula for calculating pressure for the load then the tire-makers use, and automatically add a reserve and give some extra information about possible weightdifference and weight division.
Filled it in and made a picture of it wich I will show here.
It is meanth for fully loaded even , so if you ever weigh in the way you use it , probably a lower pressure can do.

Since the rig is unloaded right now, should do you think 95 psi is a good compromise -- it is half way between the Ford suggestion and the max Firestone suggestion?

I found the FS Load and Inflation tables and I see that the MAX load for various cold pressure settings are listed. For example, G range tires are listed for a max weight of 4540 lbs at 110 psi single and 4300 dual.

According to the Ford Incomplete Vehicle Sticker, My Front GAWR is 7000 lb and my Rear GAWR is 13500 for a total GVWR of 20,00 lbs using 245/70R19.5s at 80psi

According to Firestone, my max allowable front axle load would be 9080 lbs and my max allowable rear axle weight would be 17,200 lbs at 110 psi

Ideally I need to get the weights for each side of each axle and not exceed the 110 psi rating.

Carl, the 'correct' PSI is determined by the weight of your coach, preferably weighing each corner separately. Since that isn't always possible, the next preferred way is to simply put your rig on a scale. They're found at most Flying J/Pilot, Loves etc. fueling stations. You can also find moving companies, grain elevators and the like that will weigh your coach for you. Finally, there are times when the highway weigh stations are closed but the scales are still lit. There you can weigh the coach yourself. You simply drive onto the scale, release your brakes, including the emergency brake, push the button to call the attendant and go inside to pay and get your weight slip. Less than $10. Once you have your weight slip, go to the tire mfg website and lookup your recommended PSI. Best ones are Goodyear and Michelin. Proper PSI is determined by tire size and weight on each axle.

Now based on your question, one cannot give you a decent answer or even a ball park figure unless you provide your tire size....it's stamped on the sidewall of your tire. Proper PSI provides you with the most comfortable ride along with best tire wear and better handling of your coach.....Dennis

BTW....I can guarantee you will add more than 500 pounds as you load it for travel....D
