Cost of new B - room to bargain?

We are looking at class Bs with the intent to purchase. But the sticker price is giving us sticker shock. Are there any brands of Bs that negotiate to a lower price? If so, what percentage is reasonable? Are there brands that are firm on their prices and will not negotiate?

Thanks!!!
  • I think states vary on that.
You will still have a chassis that is a year older, and probably sat somewhere for awhile, maybe in the cold in Canada. Plus, there are usually updates in the newer chassis.
    I would not pay the same price for a 2014 on a 2013 chassis, as a 2014 on a 2014 chassis.
  • Check the RV Trader website. It shows prices for RV's all over the country. Many of the prices are heavily discounted already. Be very aggressive with your offer and watch out for fees they add after you "settle" on a price. Just a way to stick you for more money. Good luck.
  • It is possible to bargain but you need some ammunition to do so. We went to three dealers and priced the same factory order. Each came up with a different price. We liked one price but liked another dealer more. Each dealer was three hours away from us in a different direction. I took the best of the three prices to the dealer I liked and put the price down on the table and said I would buy from him if he met or beat it. He did. We saved about 12-15% off the MSRP - maybe a little more. None of the dealers gave us a price that was MSRP - each applied some discount after adding up the base and options. If you buy new off the lot and it is near model change time of year you will get a better price. Also if a new Class B has been sitting on the lot for more than a year you will get a very good price, but make sure it has not been taken out to RV shows or had a lot of wear sitting on the lot.

With a new Class B you want to be sure you buy from a dealer with a good service department that you can get to because you will be back there for service. RV dealers are not like car dealers - they do not have to do warranty work on an RV that have not sold - many do - some adamantly won't. So don't expect to buy from X and just take it for warranty service to Y. You may find out too late that Y won't do it.
