a continue of old thread. I have disassembled the 8.3 to the point of being now able to clean up the engine and start the re-assembly. Parts were $923.00 and the labor was estimated to be $1400...

Tom/Barb, don't know where your manifold was cracked but I had to replace a manifold gasket on mine a couple years ago. Mine was blowing hot exhaust gases on the dip stick tube that wasn't discovered until we were 2K miles on our way to Alaska. The tube developed a small hole and was blowing oil on the back of the coach and my truck. I had a new tube air freighted to a shop in Edmonton Alberta for repair. So that problem wouldn't happen again I had the shop split a small heater hose and put over the new dip stick tube. Something you may want to consider.
Our manifold was broken between the second and third ports from the rear of the coach. and was not blowing on anything but the engine block.
