- rgatijnet1Explorer IIIDo your brake lights work? If not, then the problem is probably in the brake light circuit, not the cruise control.
- powderman426ExplorerI can't imagine how that could happen. Sounds like a computer problem. I remember years ago I was going down the road with cruise on and the speedometer cable broke which because it thought it was slowing down, it accelerated full tilt until i hit the brake. I would get it to a dealer.

x2 - BB_TXNomadWhatever it is, don't use the cruise. And get it fixed as soon as possible.
- tmmarExplorerI had the same problem and it turned out to be a short. Don't know where it was because it was fixed by Freightliner while under warranty.
- the_bear_IIExplorerThe brake light switch is either defective or not adjusted properly. I've had brake light switches on two different vehicles vibrate loose and weren't making the proper contact with the brake pedal. I've also had a switch go bad.

Happened to me on my car. Lets just say not a good feeling.
As others have said, check to see if you have brake lights. Mine had a broken wire at the switch. - BumpyroadExplorerhappened to me. the switch at the brake pedal wasn't completely plugged in or didn't quite make contact. it catches your attention quickly. ;)

x4 with one slight addition. I don't know how relevant it is to motorhomes but on 2 of the cars I have owned, there were separate switches for brake lights and cruise control deactivation on the pedal. They were imports and older so once again, probably not relevant.... - rgatijnet1Explorer IIINaturally you want to be very familiar with the cruise control shut off switch by your left hand.
