Cruise control will not de-activate when hitting brake pedal

The cruise control on my 2003 Fleetwood DP will not de-activate when I hit the brake pedal. Scared the hell out of me the first time it happened (in a curve). I have lifted the pedal and checked for trash and there was not any. Could it be a fuse issue or is there a switch that may need replacing? Any suggestions would be appreciated.
  • The brake light switch is either defective or not adjusted properly. I've had brake light switches on two different vehicles vibrate loose and weren't making the proper contact with the brake pedal. I've also had a switch go bad.
  • I had the same problem and it turned out to be a short. Don't know where it was because it was fixed by Freightliner while under warranty.
  • Whatever it is, don't use the cruise. And get it fixed as soon as possible.

    x2
  • I can't imagine how that could happen. Sounds like a computer problem. I remember years ago I was going down the road with cruise on and the speedometer cable broke which because it thought it was slowing down, it accelerated full tilt until i hit the brake. I would get it to a dealer.
