Here's one tip if you do the inside passage. As somebody pointed out the tours put on by the cruise line are very expensive. We traveled with a group of people and we booked our tours in advance. But when we got on the dock at each port we saw local taxi's that were minivans and they were offering their services at $60 an hour. The vans could easily seat 6. So for $60 per couple (if you get three couples) you can get 3 hours of taxi time and operate on your schedule instead of in a crowded bus for 3 hours on their schedule that you paid $120 for per couple.
