Cummins 8.3 codes

This is a cummins 8.3 350 the road relay 4 is showing this message

" SID 237 active 3
engine controller
subsystem ID # 237
unidentifiable. Fail Mode"

what does this mean?

engine starts and runs find.

    Cummins could not connect with or read my ECM last July until they uploaded new software to the ECM.

    the fault code was what threw us.

    didn't know what it was..

    it takes a cummins insite computer to give the proper read out.

    the little garages don't have them, I canvased 4 cummins dealer before we found one.
  • Fixed it

    faulty terminal on the manifold heater circuits
    there are two fuses protecting the heater relays and the two heaters, one had a bad connection
  • Cummins insite diagnostic computer --says the intake manifold heater is not heating..

    results later. //
  • As come we find cummins doesn't know that SID 237 means either.. but we still have the light. :(
  • I believe this means that the air intake heater grid is not fully coming up to temperature. It is used when starting the engine when it it cold. However you need to verify what I said. The best thing would be to call Cummins.
