Curtain up across coach cabin

In preparing for the summer heat during travels my wife is looking to put up a curtain and rod across the rear of the coach cabin to keep the cool air contained. She said she was going to put up a "sheet" across the coach but I suggested a similar curtain with insulation.....has anyone done this and what works best? I searched for a similar thread on this topic but none to be found.

When driving it means the dash air can cool the cockpit without needing the generator to cool the house.

As to why to find reasons to not use them (Convinences like generator and roof air when driving down road) there is but one reason not to do that and it is a retangular piece of paper, Mostly green, with a photo of a deceased ex-president of the United States imprinted upon it. and some numbers in the corner.

The number keeps getting bigger too as the cost of fuel increases.

This debate is always about money, but how much do you actually save? The dash air compressor pulls pretty hard on the motor which kills MPG. The genset which is far more efficient at producing power uses gas. So which is more efficient/cost effective? I have never seen hard analysis on either but I haven't looked that hard. The difference would have to be nominal at best. And travelling with a cooled coach is far more appealing than a hot coach with a cool cockpit. That said I also travel with the fam and they like to use the couch, bedroom, bathroom etc while travelling rather than being confined to the cockpit. I mean to me that's the benefit of owning a MH. But that's my personal opinion and to each his own. I am not knocking it, I just don't believe that it really saves as much as people think it does.
  • If your looking for an easy way to hang a curtain, just pick up a long spring loaded shower curtain rod. Adjust it for what ever width you need, let the spring pressure hold it in place, and then hang anything you want on it. It's 100% portable and if you reach your destination and don't want to deal with an annoying curtain in your way, just fold up the curtain and put the rod away. We've done this in one fashion or another in every camper we've had to make extra changing rooms, and to section off part of the camper. If you lived closer, I could probably give you a rod. I've got about 6 of them now and currently not using any.

I assume because you opt to run the dash air instead of the gen and ducted air? Never really understod buying a MH which offers all the conveniences while travelling down the road, like a genset and central air, only to find ways of not using them. :h
