Darned cabinet hinges!

We have an '05 Holiday Rambler and the cabinet hinges just don't last very long. They start to allow the cabinet doors to droop, then hardly keep them open at all. Holiday Rambler says they've switched to a different type, but won't say what. So, if you've replaced yours, what are you using? Our cabinets run horizontally and open at the bottom and the doors need to be held open (up). I need names and/or web sites of manufacturers who make replacements.

Thanks!

  • if you have a picture maybe we can help. I grew up in a cabinet shop. I have hinges in my home that were install back in 60's, still going strong. It all depends on the door offset and type of door hinge you have, if you can see it or not. Don't buy a $2 hinge.
  • It is easy to pull down on the higher cabinets and bend the light metal the hinges are made with. I tell folks to think up when opening the doors.

  • Take a cabinet door off and take it with you.
Show the folks what you have and tell them...I need better hinges that fit.
  • Maybe if you posted a pic of the hinges your coach uses. The resources are here, but you have to help them along sometimes.
  • Just wasn't sure if a "standard" hinge would work correctly. Just though I'd ask.
  • Dave,
why don't you go to Lowes or a cabinet shop,or the internet and get a better hinge. Cabinet grade hinges will last you a life time. Without a picture sort of hard to help you. Look at the Blum brand, Try this link.
